One of my favourite times of year, in addition to the obvious festivals like Halloween and Christmas, is the private annual celebration of the first day I can have my coffee outside in the sun. Today is that day. Armed with my coffee, a copy of the Kripalu Cookbook of Gourmet Vegetarian Recipes and the dog’s tennis ball I am soaking up weak sunlight and checking out which herbs survived the benign neglect offered to them over the winter.
